Review:
Well, there are a few pre-requisites to watching this movie. This is to ensure that you are able to appreciate the showcased talent of Mr. Karan Johar to pick two movies, add a little more masala to it, and present it as a new one.
Anyways, coming back to the point, you must’ve watched (and appreciated, if possible) ‘NEW YORK’ and ‘FANAA’ prior to watching this one. The simple reason for this is the equation of Kurbaan which is as follows:
NEW YORK + FANAA + *change of cast (just the cast, the characters are strikingly similar)* + *two bombs that ‘actually’ blast* + *change of locations* + *a little (repeat, little) twist of the storyline here and there* = “KURBAAN”
I hope you get a brief idea about the film from the above equation. You know that “KURBAAN” is a movie for you if you:
- Have the HOTS for Kareena/Saif/both.
- Immensely loved New York and/or Fanaa and wouldn’t mind watching them again.
- Haven’t had enough of the American FBI (already!).
- Can handle Kareena-Saif sex scene that goes right from the seduction, through the clothes part and the ‘thing’ itself, all on camera over a 4-5 minute-long song.
- A few gruesome scenes, desi style (probably inspired from the Final Destination series).
- Want to feel responsible by watching a terrorist based movie.
- Want to enjoy sight-seeing around New York.
Well, if you check all the above, then go see it right now and i’m damn sure you’ll come out rating it at 4, 4.5 something (cursing my review, of course).
You may also watch this thriller if you,
- Have 3 hours to spare with nothing better to do and nowhere else to go.
- Have a sponsored/discounted ticket.
Coz, nothing compares to a 3 hour nap in the chillin A/C of the multiplex :P
However, for those of you, who are stuck with an advance ticket already, make sure you carry an i-pod (a kindle would be recommended, though)!
That pretty much wraps up this Kurbaan thingy… So, Kurbaan over KURBAAN? Oh, not a chance…
PEACE!
