What was supposed to be a plain old 5 hour Jeddah-Mumbai flight for dad, turned out to be a 14 hour ordeal!! And the carrier was, without doubt, our very own Air India!

Drama Scene 1

Initially, the take off was delayed by an hour and a half, from Jeddah. Apparently, an Air India flight to Delhi had to be cancelled, the previous day, due to the aircraft experiencing some technical problems. Thankfully, the passengers were put up in a hotel for the day.

These passengers were to be accommodated in another flight, which also shut down on landing in Jeddah (pretty typical of Air India aircrafts). Finally, these frustrated passengers were put up in Dad’s Jeddah-Mumbai flight, which then became Jeddah-Delhi-Mumbai. And mind you, this decision is made at the last hour, when the flight is almost ready for take off. Thus, the delay.

 Drama Scene 2

Upon landing in Delhi, two oblivious passengers, who were flying to Mumbai, disembarked. Unable to speak/understand neither Hindi nor English, one of them even marched out of the Airport. Hence it all led to chaos and the flight being stranded at Delhi for more than 3 hours.

Owing to all this, the flight that was supposed to land in Mumbai at 0935hrs, finally did so at 1535hrs!

Also, when contacted, the Air India call center had ‘No Updates’ on the said flight!

Truly, a Maharaja Experience!!
